Nigerian Pen Award is a Nigerian literary award presented annually since 2005 to recognize Writer’s notable contributions to people’s freedom to speech around the world regardless of the danger it poses to their lives.

History

The prize was established by the Nigerian affiliate of PEN International, which has its centre at University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. Ever since it has been sponsored by Oxfam Novib.
